The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently visiting the Fernie two Community Hall in Mpuluzi to render services into the community.

SASSA are going to be rendering solutions such as new social grant applications, change of payment method, customer treatment enquiries, as well as the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.

In an announcement, the agency reported it is alarmed about the large amount of people depending on social grants for survival.
“The purpose from the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to your significant range of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.

“That is mainly because of the lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there's no absolutely functional office devoted to service the area on a daily basis. The services place made for intervention activities a substantial influx of prospective beneficiaries, that makes it challenging for the office to attend to all people who visit a service point.
